Malls and Shopping Centers were bustling with a great turnout of visitors during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays, with a large number of citizens and expatriates enjoying the various facilities in different parts of the country, Al Rai daily reported.

Sources in major companies in the country indicated that the opening of cinemas and allowing restaurants and beverage shops of all kinds to provide delivery and takeaway services to the public without permitting dining-in led to a great recovery in sales, pointing out that the complexes, including Avenues, 360 Mall and Marina Mall received visitors, at an increase of between 30 and 70 percent, from normal days.

The reason is due to the relatively long vacation that lasted 5 days, in addition to opening cinemas and presenting more than one show per day, in addition to increasing the working hours to 7 pm during the holidays at least, while allowing commercial activities to continue until 8 pm daily. This came after ending the partial curfew that Kuwait was forced to endure for more than 70 days as a measure against the coronavirus spread.

The sources indicated that the average spending per visitor ranged between KD 1 and KD50 in many shops located in the corridors of the commercial complexes. It also indicated that more than half of the visitors were women, especially in the morning, while the predominance of young people was during the afternoon and evening.

The sources stated that more than 70 percent of the payments were through digital channels, in light of the continuous precautionary measures in the country to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, and the stores limited the number of visitors to the store to no more than 5 customers at the same time for small spaces, and between 15 and 20 people in the larger stores, especially those specialized in selling clothes or accessories.
