Data from the Ministry of Finance revealed that the total financial fees collected for health insurance for expatriates during the past fiscal year 2020-2021 amounted to about KD 87.1 million, a decrease of 20.8% from the estimates in the budget, the Ministry of Health had expected to collect an amount of KD 110 million, Al Qabas daily reported.
In the fiscal year, 2019-2020 about KD 107 million was collected. Sources attributed the reason behind the low value of the fees collected for health insurance for expatriates to the cancellation of a very large number of residencies during the recent period due to the pandemic and its heavy economic repercussions on all business sectors.
