The official government spokesman announced that on the recommendations of the Minister of Health, the cabinet decided today to end the lockdown imposed on the areas of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula starting on Thursday, 9 July from 5 am.

A full quarantine was initiated on areas of Farwaniya, Mahboula, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Khaitan and Maidan Hawally, to handle the rise in cases of the coronavirus. All residents were cordoned in the area, and not allowed to leave without special permission. Many business owners voiced their displeasure that their businesses suffered, and expats couldn’t exit to earn their livelihood. The situation appears to have improved with Mahboula area, which has been under lockdown from 6th April, having registered “zero” coronavirus infections since June 18th.
