The increase in the daily capacity of the arrivals’ seats at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) scheduled from August 1, faces challenges due to the limited number of PCR swabs available for arrivals, Al Anbaa reported.

A maximum of 8,000 swabs is available per day. The sources told the daily that this and other challenges will be discussed at the next cabinet meeting in preparation for revealing the arrival mechanism for expatriates from the beginning of August.

The competent authorities are considering other alternatives to conduct the PCR examinations, including conducting the test at an external health center after arriving at the airport.

The sources said to the daily that Civil Aviation wants to double the operating capacity of incoming flights at the airport to reach 10,000 passengers per day.

In addition, Civil Aviation has not yet issued a decision to allow airlines to open the door for direct reservations from all countries, pending the final decisions that will determine the entry mechanism for arrivals from high-risk countries that have not yet been resolved.
