The Director General of Kuwait Municipality, Ahmed AlManfouhi, announced today, Friday, the closure of the Friday Market, in a precautionary measure that targets gatherings, in addition to canceling all licenses of ice cream carts and street vendors in the region.

Al-Manfouhi said in a press statement that the municipal authorities and their field teams concerned with implementing cabinet decisions aimed at preserving the health and safety of citizens and residents and limiting the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid 19) will perform their work around the clock and fiercely penalize violators of its decisions.

He pointed out that there is a committee headed by the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Walid Al-Jassem in the event of a permanent meeting that monitors developments and takes appropriate measures in coordination with the Ministry of Health. He expressed hope that everyone will abide by the decisions issued by the municipal authorities to ensure that they are not subject to legal accountability.
