A recent report prepared by the Public Authority for Manpower revealed that the issuance of work permits for all professions and activities should be legalized for a full year until marginal workers are liquidated and the permit of skilled workers could be transferred and then re-issued, Al Anbaa reported.
The study issued a set of recommendations, including the development of decisions regulating work with regard to work permits for small and medium enterprises, where its employment is estimated at 79,000 workers registered on 4 thousand small projects only, as well as identifying the actual needs of the labor market through the development of an automated action plan with regard to estimating the need.
The report stressed the need to stop issuing work permits for professions and specializations for which there is a Kuwaiti job-seeker, and to assign all ministries and agencies concerned to follow up on the employment affiliated with their government contracts with regard to valid and non-valid contracts, as it is necessary to benefit from employment on expired contracts and transfer them to valid contracts instead of Disbursement of new labor.
The situation of illegal residents must be addressed by giving priority to an appointment in professions that the national element does not want to work into a category of unspecified nationality, such as a cashier of cooperative societies and security guard.
