Twenty-four (24) Filipino household service workers were given culinary scholarship by LBC Express in collaboration with Dadabhai Travel and Al Alamia Manpower Services. The one full day baking scholarship is coordinated under the patronage of Chef Mrs. Noor Jarifah Lomondot, spouse of the Ambassador of the Philippines and organized by CEE Network Culinary Arts Lifestyle Courses.

The two day “Essential Baking Course” offers the household service workers the knowledge and enhance their skills in baking popular breads among bakeshops in Kuwait and Philippines. “This has been organized to give them the opportunity to gather knowledge and help them somehow augment their income here or in the Philippines when they come home for good” commented Chef Noor Lomondot. The course includes preparation of sweet dough which can create and produce variety of breads and pastries such as traditional Pan de Sal, Spanish bread, and others. It also offers additional skills in making pies such as coconut and egg pies, which are both popular delicacies in the Philippines.

LBC Express, popular for its cargo and parcels delivery services recently launched its homedelivery passports, successfully patronized by Filipinos. “When LBC Express was approached to jointly organized the event, we took the opportunity to use our facility to accept applications from household service workers who were interested to take up the culinary scholarships and the response was overwhelming. In fact, till now we have been receiving applications on line and hopefully we can launch another event like this to accommodate them” stated Nina Del Mundo, LBC Express official in Kuwait.

The course is spearhead by CEE Network Culinary Arts Masterchefs Cris Ricafort, Zhan Robles and Ramil de la Cruz, joined by Chef trainers, Mariefe Torio, Mary Abegail Lopez, Gigi Araja, Elizabeth Tendenilla, Alexandre Meulien and Menchie Alvarez.  Among other sponsors to the event include Anne’s Footwear and RTW Collection and Jane’s Closet who donated the ingredients used in the event.

Certificates of participation are awarded to the attendees at the end of the course.
