Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee Dr. Hamad Al-Matar has called for educational professionals to be exempt from the civil service’s decision to require fingerprints, Alrai Media reported. He said that this is necessary to protect the educational process, as well as to address concerns raised by the Ministry of Education about the negative aspects of fingerprint scanning for educational staff.

According to Al-Matar, the former Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammed Al-Fares, and the Teachers’ Association had previously demanded for educational professionals to be exempt from the civil service’s decision to implement the mandatory biometric scanning. They argued that fingerprinting is not compatible with the nature of the teaching profession.
