High-level oil sources said there is coordination between the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and the Saudi Aramco Gulf Operations to arrange the technical team to start work with regard to the Durra gas field in the joint offshore area, according to the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides.

The sources told Al-Rai that Gulf Oil is awaiting the approval of a budget of between 10 and 15 million dinars from the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, which represents its share in the initial designs budget, explaining that there is no directive to stop work on the project or any change in the agreed plans.

The sources confirmed that after the completion of the initial designs, work will start on the project budget, and it is expected that the initial designs will be completed within 8 to 12 months, and then start offering the implementation contract, which is likely to be through a consortium as a partnership between contractors, as was done in other projects implemented in Kuwait.

The sources indicated that there is continuous coordination and understanding between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the joint operations area, to start preliminary design work for the Dirra gas field in the joint submerged area, adding that the joint team will witness a diversity of technical expertise from each side of the partners, provided that the leadership of the team is in coordination between Kuwaiti Gulf Oil Co and Aramco Gulf Operations.
