The spending bill on domestic workers in Kuwait touched about 784 million dinars ($2.6 billion) during 2021. A local Arabic daily quoting sources familiar in the area of domestic labor sector estimated the average monthly wage for all nationalities of labor in the country at 110 dinars per month, while the number of domestic workers in Kuwait by the end of 2021 was 593.64 thousand, which makes the average value of monthly spending on that sector about 65.3 million dinars ($215 million).
The figures indicate 94% of spending on domestic workers in Kuwait (734.56 million dinars) include 4 main nationalities, numbering about 556.48 thousand male and female workers.
Indian domestic workers ranked first and accounted for about 47% of spending on that sector, at 369 million dinars (1.2 billion dollars) during the past year, for about 279.59 male and female workers, including 258.5 million dinars for men and 110.5 million dinars for women workers followed by the Filipinos in second place and account for about 23% of the total spending on the domestic labor sector at 178.7 million dinars (588 million dollars)
Bangladeshis who come in third place account for 13% of the total expenditure of citizens on domestic labor with expenditures amounting to 101.4 million dinars annually; the Sri Lankans are fourth and account for 11% of the volume of spending on domestic workers at 85.28 million dinars annually; the Nepalese take the fifth spot with about 15.11 million dinars annually; the Ethiopians sixth with 14.1 million dinars the Indonesians seventh, with 3.17; citizens of Benin eight, who are about 2.08 million dinars annually; the Pakistanis in ninth place with 2.08 million dinars annually and the Sudanese come in tenth place, with an expenditure of 1.7 million dinars annually for 1.3 thousand domestic workers.
