The total operational and non-operational Kuwaiti workforce at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries is about 87.7 percent or 21,400 employees at the end of fiscal year, according to official data.
The data issued by the KPC indicated 287 employees were appointed during the past year, including 2 expatriates, and the appointments included 74 diploma holders who graduated in the field of refinery operating technology to work at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
In terms of creating job opportunities for Kuwaitis in contracts and encouraging the private sector to employ national workers, the Kuwait Oil Company has ‘Kuwaitized’ approximately 3,949 jobs, bringing the number of Kuwaitis working with companies which have contracts with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries is about 5,130 employees, which is equivalent of the Kuwaitization percentage as per the clause in the contracts.
