Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali is in the process of issuing a decision to allow Kuwaiti women to join the Kuwait army.
Informed sources told Al-Qabas this expected decision aims to allow Kuwaiti women to join the military service alongside their male brothers.
They will be inducted as officers and non-commissioned officers in the support services sectors of the Ministry of Defense, such as medical services and other departments and sectors of benefit to the Kuwaiti army.
The sources said the first batch, expected to be accepted, ranges between 100 and 150 women, who will be nominated for the officers and non-commissioned officers course.
