The Chest Diseases Hospital has proudly announced the successful completion of two groundbreaking aortic valve replacement surgeries using catheterization. Employing the latest cutting-edge valves, EVOLUT FX, this achievement marks a significant milestone as the first instance of such technology being utilized in the Middle East, following in the footsteps of the United States.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Enezi, the head of the Adult Cardiology Department, emphasized that this accomplishment is a testament to the hospital’s commitment to embracing and leveraging international and modern medical technologies, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The two procedures were performed on two patients, both in their eighties, skillfully executed by the expert valve team under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Al-Marri.

The patients had been grappling with severe aortic valve narrowing, necessitating the replacement operation. The state-of-the-art valve stands out for its effortless and precise installation, leading to fewer complications for the patients and minimal usage of dye during the procedure.

Additionally, the modern valve significantly reduces the operation time and eases the process of cardiac catheterization for arteries, should the patient require it in the future. This remarkable achievement marks a significant advancement in cardiac care, bringing hope and improved outcomes to patients in the region.
