Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah in Brussels Monday discussed regional and international developments with EU foreign ministers over a working breakfast.

“We had a chance to exchange our perspective regarding our work on how to enhance our cooperation and our dimension between EU and Kuwait,” he told the Kuwait news agency, KUNA, and Kuwait TV after the meeting. They also discussed Kuwaitآ’s viewpoint regarding regional and international challenges, he noted.

“I had the chance to provide the EU foreign ministers with our perspective in Kuwait regarding challenges that engulf us, and I have heard from our EU partners their outmost engagement with Kuwait and with the region and their clear and firm stance in security and stability of the region,” said the Kuwaiti foreign minister.

Sheikh Ahmad Nasser expressed his thanks and gratitude to Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis for organising todayآ’s event to meet with EU foreign ministers over a working breakfast On his part, Kasoulidis thanked the Kuwaiti minister for giving such an interesting presentation in peace making and peace understanding for the whole region.

The whole region is so important for stability for Europe but also beyond. “Your presentation was extremely interesting,” said the Cypriot minister. Later, the Kuwaiti foreign minister met Slovenian foreign minister Anze Logar and discussed relations between the two countries.

“We see great opportunity to enhance our cooperation. Our bilateral exchanges are modest and there are several fields where we can really enhance our cooperation be in cyber security and artificial intelligence and exchange of information in technology in the health sector,” Logar told KUNA and Kuwait TV.

They decided to raise the frequency of bilateral meetings, he said and voiced optimism that there will be concrete result of “our todayآ’s meeting.” “Kuwait and Slovenia are like-minded countries. We all defend peace and security and seek to bring all the crises to a peaceful solution,” he said. In a separate meeting, Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah discussed bilateral ties with the foreign minister of Malta Evarist Bartolo.

“Our countries have been friends for many, many years. We are two countries (together) not only with the past but with the future,” Bartolo told KUNA and Kuwait TV. “We understand each other and we can work in different areas, health and education sustainable development, tourism,” he said.

“Kuwait helps us to understand the Gulf, Kuwait helps us to understand the Arab world and we help the Gulf and Kuwait to understand the EU,” he said. “We can work together for security and peace which we need a lot. Both in the Gulf and in the Mediterranean and the whole world,” said the Maltese foreign minister.

He added that “relations between Kuwait and Malta have always been very good and we look forward to strengthening our relations.” EU High Representative Josep Borrell Sunday night hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Kuwaiti foreign minister on his first trip to Brussels. – KUNA
