Dhaher Al-Soyyan, the head of the Kuwaiti Federation of Fishermen, has urged officials to intervene quickly to save the fishing sector from a looming collapse due to a severe shortage of labor.

With fishing seasons approaching, Al-Soyyan emphasized the need to open entry visas for fishermen, as many boats lack workers. Failure to address the labor shortage will result in a shortage of local marine products and a subsequent rise in fish prices. Al-Soyyan called on officials to end the suffering of license holders by allowing the recruitment of replacements for workers who travel, especially since fishing labor is not readily available in the local market.
