A family’s misfortune highlights the great danger of the coronavirus, and shows why adherence to health regulations and precautionary measures are so important, health sources revealed the suffering of a family with the mother losing her life in the intensive care of a hospital, and her son passed away in the care of another hospital, while a second son is fighting for his life in another room, Al Rai daily reported.
The sources said, “This is perhaps one of dozens or hundreds of similar cases that Kuwaiti families are struggling to cope with, and a look at the ICU rooms is sufficient to show the extent of the difficulties endured by the medical staff, and the tragedies of each family whose member is undergoing treatment, as there are fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters waiting anxiously for hope.”
The sources told Al-Rai the story of the grieving family, who was traumatized by the loss of the mother and one of the sons, while its third member was still in intensive care.
However, the sources expressed their regret for “the continuing indifference to the dangers of the virus by one of the members of this family, who went, while he was still infected, and had not completed the quarantine period, to visit his father accompanied by his brothers, instead of exercising utmost caution, and adhering to the health regulations.”
The daily reported, “We can imagine the numbers that may cause transmission of infection as a result of impulsivity or emotion,” and noted, “Under this situation, it is simply possible for any infected person to enter anywhere, as long as he does not suffer from visible symptoms, especially a high temperature. The state may assign a guard to every infected person, and follow them on the Shlonik app, and while he may be reported and legal action taken against him, but after what? After he has caused the infection to be transmitted to tens or even hundreds of people, and from here it appears that addressing the epidemic is a societal responsibility before it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health or the medical personnel that have endured all the suffering for more than a year.”
