Facility planned to handle 25m passengers annually

Kuwait has said that work is underway to construct its new airport planned to accommodate 25 million passengers annually.

“Work continues to implement the project of the new airport on an area of 700,000 square metres,” assistant deputy head of major projects at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works Eng. Abdul Mohassen Al Anazi said, according to Al-Rai newspaper.

The facility will comprise 180 passenger counters and will emerge as one of the world’s best airports, the official added.

“The ministry has taken steps to expedite the implementation of works,” he said, noting that workers engaged in the T2 project are residing next to the site of the building.

“The new airport terminal is being implemented according to the world’s highest standards in aviation services and will be compliant with environmentally friendly standards,” he added.

T2, scheduled to be completed by 2023, is envisaged as a regional travel hub.
