The UN will celebrate the ‘International Day of Charity’ on September fifth, in recognition of humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of those in need globally. Kuwait is known as one of the top countries in the field of charity, as it was named ‘Humanitarian Center’ and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was also granted the title of ‘Humanitarian Leader’ by the UN.
Kuwaiti charity has achieved unparalleled successes globally since the beginning of charity work in Kuwait in 1913, as it marked a milestone in the areas of humanitarian giving, without distinction or discrimination.
In this regard, Amiri Diwan Advisor and Chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq told KUNA on Wednesday that the Kuwaiti charity work always proves the giving of the Kuwaiti people around the world with the generous support and guidance of His Highness the Amir. Since official launch of IIOC in 1986, the charity has spared no efforts in providing projects to dozens of countries around the world in different areas, he said.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ‘Patients Helping Fund’ Society Dr. Mohammad AlSharhan praised the unlimited support of the Kuwaiti charity work, as the Patients fund was able to provide humanitarian support to the needy patients inside and outside the country.
The assistance provided varied between medicines and medical devices to the needy patients, as well as paying the treatment expenses for people in need, he added. For his part, Chairman of the Board of ‘Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Society’ Jamal Al-Nouri, said Kuwaiti march has become one of the most effective and successful pillars of the state’s foreign policy.
Al-Nouri said that since its establishment, the association is keen to provide humanitarian aid in Asia and Africa as well as projects such schools, institutes, mosques, wells, orphans and health centers. The Association seeks through educational and charity projects to enable beneficiaries to receive education and raise the efficiency education, and measure the impact of educational projects on communities and its development, he said.
