Kuwait has taken all measures necessary to ensure survival and access to healthcare for all nationals and foreign residents amid coronavirus crisis, in line with international human rights standards, including women and families, an official had told regional talks.
These measures have been applied under the directives His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwaitآ’s family affairs committee chief Hanaa Al-Hajeri said at Arab League womenآ’s committee talks two days ago.
The meeting discussed efforts taken in the regionآ’s countries to combat the economic, social and psychological impacts of COVID-19 on the society, particularly women and families.
Kuwait urged committee members to put in place comprehensive policies and strategies aimed at relieving these impacts on families, as a whole, through cooperation between state and civil society bodies.
In its report, she said Friday, Kuwait proposed several humanitarian initiatives targeting all nationals affected by the pandemic.
This includes ensuring support for their livelihoods and their right to the nationآ’s food stockpile and putting into place a restart plan based on social responsibility for a gradual post-coronavirus exit.
