The report on the strategic stock of foodstuffs revealed an abundance of some basic commodities in the cooperative societies and a shortage of others.

The report revealed that the country has abundant rice reserves sufficient for more than 15 years and 8 months according to the current consumption pattern. While the stock of some commodities is sufficient only for 100 days, such as onions and garlic, Al Qabas reported.

The report highlighted that there is a keenness to provide large quantities in stock for sugar, lentils, potatoes, powder milk, and vegetable oils.

Regarding the best-selling materials in the different markets of the cooperative societies, the report stated that the following products are most in-demand in order: frozen chicken, tomato paste, flour, nutritional supplements for children, and vegetable oils.

According to the data contained in the report, government agencies must increase the stock of many necessary consumables, starting with infant formula, which covers nearly a year, in addition to flour, which is available for 118 days, and are considered necessities that must be increased further.
