The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday reiterated the safety and effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines approved for use in the country. The ministry affirmed also that there were unexpected side effects on those who received vaccines.

In a press statement, the ministry’s team tasked with monitoring side effects of COVID-19 vaccines stressed the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Medicines Agency’s reports on the benefit and safety of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The team pointed to continued follow-up of health conditions of people who obtained vaccination in the country, it added. Neither deaths nor blood clots related to virus vaccines were reported in the country, it confirmed.

The side effects, which were reported, have no danger on the health of people who received the vaccine, it said, indicating that these effects are probable and temporary. The effects registered after vaccination are expected and will continue for a short time, it noted. There are probable reactions and responses to the immunity system when receiving the vaccine, it said. The team emphasized the continuation of following up safety of vaccines, in coordination and cooperation with the specialized international bodies.
