Kuwaitis will be permitted to travel outside the country with health precautions in place set by the concerned authorities, in the coming days, reported a local daily. It is a new phase following the end of the evacuation of citizens from abroad.

Many citizens expressed their desire to travel abroad, especially with the end of the total curfew period, and authorities has initiated a plan to that effect.

On their part, the diplomatic sources stated that thousands of expats of different nationalities are considering leaving to their countries once the airport is opened with operational flights. The number is expected to double after some countries announced the abolishment of the requirement of institutional quarantine upon arrival and the confinement to home quarantine.

Earlier Minister of State for Services Affairs and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Mubarak AlHaris announced Sunday a three progressive phases plan developed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to re-operate commercial flights. In a press statement after his meeting with DGCA officials, the minister said that the Kuwait International Airport will operate in the first stage at 30 percent of its capacity, then will rise to 60 percent in the second stage, and back to normal level in the third and final stage.

The minister affirmed that DGCA was keen, when developing the plan, to abide by the Cabinet decisions, taking into account adherence to the preventive and precautionary measures issued by the health authorities.
