The fourth session of the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption was launched in Saudi capital, Riyadh, Wednesday with participation of a Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority delegation, headed by Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim. Chair of the conference’s forth session and Saudi chief of Oversight Anti-Corruption Authority Mazin Al-Kahmous stated that this meeting is part of efforts to aid countries grabbling with corruption.
He added that the meeting, with participation of 14 Arab countries and a number of regional and international organizations, seeks to usher in a new phase of joint Arab work in combating corruption.
On his part, Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority delegation Chairman Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim affirmed that cooperation is a main factor towards achieving development and boosting expertise in field of combating corruption and achieving stability.
He stressed importance of imposing Arab regional policies to execute Arab agreement, exchange expertise and facilitate future planning. Al-Ibrahim added that challenges faced by international anti-corruption organizations must be taken into consideration, to examine cons and benefit from pros, apply what corresponds to Arab nations.
He reiterated Kuwait’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in launching and supporting initiative of GlobE network, concerned with dealing with corruption.
Chair of third anti-corruption session, Mohammad Al-Rashedi asserted importance of continuous work to thwart corruption and boost integrity and transparency, adding that regularity in holding meetings reflects commitment.
Chairman of the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Hasan Abdulshafi, indicated that the session held last December rectified four resolutions put forth by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, which reflects keenness of Arab countries in contributing to international multilateral anti-corruption dialogue.
