The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a circular on Sunday, May 16th, informing all Airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) that Kuwaiti citizens, first degree relatives of citizens, and their accompanying domestic workers who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are banned from traveling abroad as of Saturday, May 22.

The travel ban on Kuwaiti citizens does not include people in age groups ineligible to receive vaccinations. The ban on the entry of expatriates into Kuwait will continue until further notice.

Following categories have been exempted from travel restrictions-

  1. Those who received two doses of the vaccine and two weeks have passed since the second dose.
  2. Those who received one dose of the vaccine and five weeks have passed
  3. Those who recovered from infection with Coronavirus and received one dose of the vaccine and more than two weeks have passed.
