Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah extended his warm welcome to the outcomes of the visit by Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, Abdollahian held discussions with Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Foreign Minister.

In a press release on Friday, Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah emphasized that this visit underscores the sincere commitment of both nations to reestablish normalcy in their bilateral relations. Their dedication to upholding regional security and stability is evident, fostering confidence-building measures that serve the best interests of the region and the world, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He took the opportunity to acknowledge the instrumental role played by the friendly People’s Republic of China in facilitating and sponsoring the bilateral negotiations that resulted in the decision to reinstate diplomatic ties. He also praised the noteworthy efforts of the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman in facilitating this process.

Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah said he is optimistic that this visit will translate into robust relations between the two countries, rooted in mutual respect and envisioned it as the commencement of a promising chapter in the history of Gulf-Iranian relations, characterized by the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in internal affairs.

This would, in turn, lead to strengthened connections, fostering bridges of dialogue and mutual comprehension. Such efforts, he went on to say, would significantly contribute to the stability, peace, and prosperity of both nations and their peoples. Additionally, he anticipated that this collaboration would stand as a powerful force in confronting future challenges.

It is noteworthy to make a mention that Thursday, Abdollahian made history by becoming the first Iranian Foreign Minister to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the accord reached in Beijing to resume diplomatic relations. His discussions with the Saudi counterpart encompassed a wide array of shared topics and concerns.
