In the current fiscal year, Kuwait expects to gross KD9.6 million in fees from expatriates’ residency permits, reports an Arabic daily citing official figures.

KD3.35 million worth of fees expected from foreign domestic workers and KD6.25 million in fees from dependents of migrant workers.

Domestic workers in Kuwait are estimated at about 744,000, of whom 92 percent are from India, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Indians account for 47.4 percent of the domestic workers in Kuwait, followed by Filipinos with 21.4 percent, according to figures from the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Civil Information.

Foreigners make up nearly 3.4 million of Kuwait’s overall 4.8 million population.
