Kuwait's Representative at the WFP Executive Board Yusuf Juhail, together with representatives of Egypt, Germany, Guatemala and Russia.

Kuwait’s representative has assumed again responsibility of coordinator for the Asian countries in the Executive Board of the World Food Programme (WFP) for a one-year term.

Speaking to KUNA on Friday, Kuwait’s permanent mission to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said permanent representative Yusuf Juhail this week was chosen a coordinator for Asian countries inside the board of the WFP until March 2020.

This is the second time for Kuwait to be selected for this post, it added.Juhail expressed his pride for confidence given by the Asian countries to Kuwait.He noted that this came after Kuwait’s recent election as WFP board member for the fourth time.

This confidence and responsibility inside the board show Kuwait’s international status, thanks to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s role on the global level and his key humanitarian initiatives through the WFP as well as Kuwait’s active role in the organization, Juhail said.Kuwait chaired the Executive Board consisting 36 member states over the last term ended last February.

It was chosen as a member of the board for two consecutive terms from 2006-2010. Last week, Juhail elected head of the Near East and North Africa group at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).Kuwait has been chosen for the sixth time in five years to lead the group.
