Secretary General of Kuwait National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, Justice Adel Al-Essa underlined Monday the importance of enforcing international humanitarian law in armed conflicts.
He was speaking to KUNA on sidelines of a conference on international humanitarian law, attended by the International Committee of Red Cross, Arab and Western legal experts.
Al-Essa said the conferees would discuss a mechanism to implement the humanitarian law in domestic conflicts and non-international armed conflicts, which were not subject to international law for the protection of civilians.
Arab countries should offer legislation’s that compel commitment to the international humanitarian law because of regional conflicts.
Kuwait is represented by Al-Essa and Director of Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies Justice Uwayyed Al-Thuwaimer.
