As part of the national campaign “Kuwait beside you” Kuwait public donations to help those affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria have reached more than 20 million Kuwaiti dinars since its inception. The campaign was organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Information via a live broadcast on Kuwait TV.

The Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi added in his speech on Kuwait TV while inaugurating the campaign ,that the national campaign “Kuwait beside you” was implemented under the directives of His Highness the Emir of the country Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, for the purpose of providing support to our brothers from Turkey and Syria who faced the effects of the earthquakes that occurred.

The Minister Al-Mutairi further stressed that since the first moment of the earthquake, Kuwait had immediately risen at the official and public level to support the Syrian and Turkish people who were facing this ordeal, by aiding the needy as soon as it was possible.

He also stated about the enthusiasm of the Ministry of Information through all its agencies and correspondents, in addition to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), who covered all the facts and events of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria with a highlight of all the efforts made by the State of Kuwait, at the official and public level, in providing relief to those affected by the earthquake.

At the close of his speech the Minister Al-Mutairi urged all the citizens and residents of the State of Kuwait to participate in the ‘Kuwait beside you’ campaign through donations and extend a helping hand to those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
