More than 100 contestants participated in inauguration of the 2018 annual sea heritage festival on Wednesday. Sheikh Salem Al­Nawaf Al­Ahmad Al­Sabah, the head of the festival organizing committee, said in a statement at the fishermen’s diwaniah, where the festival kicked off, that the new edition of the yearly event has drawn a large number of enthusiasts to partake in diverse contests and activities, namely fishing.

The committee has increased the awards to lure as many participants as possible, he has indicated, assuring the contesting fishermen that paramedics on accompanying boats will be ready to help if they are needed.

Coast guards are also helping in organizing of the event, he asys, re­assuring the participants that the guards are ready to ensure their safety. He lauded the event patronization by His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, namely their keenness on reliving the ancestors’ heritage and learning from their endurance and cooperation in hardships.
