National carrier Kuwait Airways opened bookings for direct flights from several Indian destinations starting tomorrow Sept 7.
The first flights will depart Chennai and Mumbai tomorrow and fares being quoted start around KD 590 for a one way ticket to Kuwait. Flights from Cochin and Delhi are also in similar range and are scheduled for Wednesday Sept 8 and 9.
As per the quota by Directorate General of Civil Aviation a total of 768 daily arrivals from Indian destinations will be permitted by both Indian and Kuwait carriers. Jazeera Airways has operated the first flight last Thursday and is already flying out of several destinations from India.
Fares being quoted for some destinations are as high as KD 1000 due to the high demand of passengers trying to return back to Kuwait after a gap of almost 18 months.
Indian carriers are yet to announce their schedule and fares but it is expected that once they do prices for tickets will drastically come down from the present exorbitant rates.
