The Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait HE Miguel Aguilar, said, “I am pleased to be at Terminal T4 with our Kuwaiti friends from Kuwait Airways on the first direct flight to Barcelona, about a year after the start of direct flights to Madrid.”

He added, the second city in his country opens the door wide for communication between the two peoples as the Kuwait Airways announced the launch of its first scheduled commercial flights to the Spanish city of Barcelona, with three flights per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Kuwait Airways CEO, Ahmed Al-Karibani, said Barcelona is one of the most important travel destinations in Europe and adding Barcelona to a list of its direct flights comes within the framework of the company’s strategy to expand its network and provide wider options to its customers.

Al-Karibani added Barcelona was selected after a careful and comprehensive study of the requirements of the local and international market, indicating that Barcelona contains many tourist, historical, cultural and sporting attractions in addition to its distinction as a suitable destination for spending holidays throughout the year.

The Spanish envoy said he believes the route to Madrid quickly became a very successful initiative, pointing out that Kuwait Airways launched its flights to Barcelona, the second city in Spain, which is considered one of the most beautiful and popular tourist destinations in Europe, and will open the door to more communication between the two peoples.

Aguilar expressed his deep appreciation to Kuwait Airways’ management for its “real bet on behalf of Spain, and I am sure that this will be positive for the company and for the benefit of our bilateral relations.”
