The Kuwait Ports Authority asked about the possibility of the Municipality ceding the area allocated for the Fintas Beach project to increase the area for the Naqa’at al-Fintas (berthing) project.

In a letter addressed to the municipality, the authority said that the project is one of the Corporation’s most important steps aimed at achieving the strategic goals of implementing the vision of the State of Kuwait 2035 (New Kuwait), by relying on non-oil sources of income, and improving the level of entertainment services provided to citizens, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The sources added that, as a commitment from the Foundation to implement the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding the development and modernization of the existing Naqa’at in Fintas area, Plot 5, and the issuance of the Municipal Council’s decision to expand the Naqa’at Al Fintas site by adding the area corresponding to the Fintas Cemetery, in addition to the initial approval from the Environment Public Authority, this project has become the focus of the Foundation’s attention.

As a result, it completed the preparation of a final study of the infrastructure of the Naqa’at Al-Fintas project with the consulting office, and a contract was signed to study and design the Naqa’at Al-Fintas project.

The soureces she indicated that the infrastructure study submitted by the global consulting office indicates the need to use a larger area than the current area allocated to the KPA, given that the components of the project require more space allocated for the project, and therefore the KPA needs to increase the area allocated to Naqa’at al-Fintas, in order to complete the study, consultancy and design required for the project, and the implementation of this study without dispensing with one of the components or elements of the project to implement it in an integrated manner in order to achieve the desired objectives of the project.

The sources pointed out that the site of the Fintas Beach Development Project, which is included in the municipality’s projects, is considered part of the required expansion area.

The sources said that the KPA requests a study of the possibility of ceding the area allocated for the Fintas Beach project, to complete the data and priorities of this request, and to facilitate work procedures and proceed with the completion of the study and design.
