The Kuwait Journalists Association has officially communicated with the relevant parties involved in the formulation of the media regulatory legislation, emphasizing that the forthcoming presentation during the panel discussion of the final version of the project will be markedly distinct from the recent discussions.

This revised draft aims to encompass and ensure greater freedoms. The association expresses a sincere willingness to embrace all suggestions and feedback put forth by participants in the panel discussion, as well as those monitoring the discourse from diverse media circles, MPs, civil society organizations, and legal experts, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a statement released yesterday, the association conveyed that its board of directors has been closely monitoring the various responses generated by the information circulated regarding the media regulation bill “draft.”

The Association’s Board of Directors extended its gratitude towards press and media establishments, as well as National Assembly members, who have advocated safeguarding the press freedom in particular and broader liberties as a whole.

The Association’s Board of Directors earnestly invited all parties vested in this matter to actively engage in the upcoming panel discussion. During this session, the Minister of Information will elucidate the intricacies of the final iteration of the proposed law.

This presentation aims to illuminate the foundations upon which stances are being taken. The Association’s commitment to its position remains steady, contingent upon the “draft law” incorporating additional freedoms and advancements for the press and the Kuwaiti media landscape.
