The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources has stressed on the importance of the Kuwaiti Festivals Association (KFA) initiative, which it launched under the name ‘Sustainable Agricultural Tourism’ to enhance the concept of food security, support the national produce and Kuwaiti farmers, and achieve sustainable development in line with the United Nations goals.

This came in a statement made by the Director General of the Agriculture Authority, Nasser Taqi, to the Kuwait News Agency, Wednesday, following a coordination meeting held with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Festivals Association, Tariq Al-Obaid, and the Deputy Director General of the Agriculture Authority for Fisheries Affairs, Abdul Mohsen Al-Mutairi.

Taqi said that the Festivals Association’s initiative falls within the implementation of the government’s work program 2023-2027 regarding supporting national agricultural products and is sponsored by the PAAAFR and aims to support the agricultural sector as a whole, especially the national project for managing the tourism and entertainment scene in the country, which the Festivals Association undertakes in cooperation with a number of concerned government institutions.

He pointed out that PAAAFR supports all national initiatives that would advance agriculture in general, including the Festivals Association initiative, especially since it is everyone’s responsibility and that the citizen is an essential partner in preserving his country and his environment.

He explained that the Agriculture Authority is keen and interested in supporting Kuwaiti farmers and the national producer in all possible ways and in partnership with any effort or entity to be together in improving our country, its economy, tourism and food security in all sectors and fields, each in its position.

Taqi stressed that the (sustainable agricultural tourism) initiative constitutes a qualitative shift towards promoting sustainable green initiatives in society and is concerned with societal progress in sustainability and providing a distinguished model in consolidating the principles of sustainability.

He stated that this is done through community initiatives within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals built on common ideas and visions, and consolidating the principles of sustainability in society for the sake of sustainable development.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Festivals Association, Tariq Al-Obaid, said in a similar statement that the launch of the initiative comes as a true translation of the national project for managing the tourism and entertainment scene in the country.

He explained that all of this would strengthen the support of the owners of these farms for their national role and their keenness to provide the national product, which began to compete with the imported one, and our goal is to stimulate domestic tourism, especially agricultural tourism, among citizens.

He pointed out that it is also providing sophisticated qualitative initiatives to be used to drive innovation, competitiveness and societal creativity, all of which are necessary factors to achieve sustainable development goals, including the Sustainable Agritourism initiative.
