The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) revealed that the ministry will encash the guarantees from contractors and troubled companies to fund the ministry’s projects, by deducting from the payments available with the ministry or by liquidating the guarantees between these companies and MPW, an official source revealed to Al Anba.

The total outstanding amounted to approximately KD 90 million, including all delayed and defaulted payments by companies who are facilitating the Ministry’s projects in the last period.

On the other hand, the source revealed that the ministry is working on adopting the new budget for the year 2021-2022, at a total cost of one billion dinars, for projects to be conducted by the ministry only, which also includes road authority projects that fall under the umbrella of MPW, stressing that this budget will be approved in the next week at the very least.

The Ministry had previously sent letters and warnings to these companies to pay these debts, and whoever violates this will be legally prosecuted and removed from being responsible for organizing the MPQ projects in the future through the ministry or in coordination with the regulatory authorities such as the Central Agency for Tenders, the Accounting Bureau, or the Ministry of Finance
