Health sources revealed that the Central Agency for Public Tenders has agreed to extend the contract for providing air ambulance and medical evacuation services for a period of 6 months, starting from next September 6, Al Qabas daily reported.

The sources pointed out that this type of service has brought about a qualitative leap in the level of health services, especially concerning saving lives and accident injuries on highways in remote areas and islands, and the rapid arrival of cases to emergency departments in public hospitals. The extension costs KD 2.2 million. The matter was referred to the Audit Bureau for final approval.
