Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department raided a restaurant in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh serving ‘Karak’ tea and administratively closed the place for using government subsidized milk, some of which had reportedly expired.

The Al-Anba daily said the raid was in continuation of efforts of the concerned authorities to ensure restaurants and eateries adhere to Municipality rules and regulations. The daily added, the restaurant was also used by some, what it called weak-minded’ people to store stolen government subsidized foodstuffs.

The daily added, the place was raided after ‘someone’ informed the CID men. The raid yielded approximately 100 cans of subsidized powdered milk.

An Asian who manages the business in the restaurant was also arrested and during interrogation he admitted to buying subsidized milk from makeshift markets operated by Asians in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area at a cheap price and uses it to make ‘Karak’ tea.
