Recent data released by the Ministry of Justice has unveiled that a total of 181,298 new criminal cases were logged in the Court of First Instance between January 1 and August 20, 2023.

According to the figures, of which Al-Qabas managed to acquire a copy, the tally of criminal cases reached 2,077, encompassing 26 instances of state security felonies, 8,065 misdemeanors, 789 cases relating to information technology, and 4,470 municipal violation misdemeanors. During the same period, there were 723 registered cases involving domestic violence.

The report further elaborated that commercial misdemeanors constituted 3,529 cases, traffic-related criminal orders stood at 2,959; environmental misdemeanors were recorded as 3,069, while check-related misdemeanors reached 1,172.

The juvenile misdemeanors amounted to 1,308, and other miscellaneous misdemeanors totaled 1,594.

Additionally, the data highlighted that grievances officially recorded were numbered at 446, accompanied by 105 cases of absenteeism misdemeanors. Moreover, the records documented 4,866 passport-related misdemeanors, 42 cases linked to fisheries misdemeanors, and 4,115 instances of traffic-related misdemeanors.

Furthermore, the statistics underlined that the Public Prosecution’s misdemeanors amounted to 95, alongside the notation of 47 judicial inventory cases, 44 cases involving inventory assessments for companies, 24 cases related to electronic media, 36 instances of lawyers’ complaints, 15 cases pertaining to money laundering, 7 copyright violation cases, and a substantial 141,648 misdemeanors that were appealed.
