Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital has announced the opening of its first-of-a-kind research and innovation center developed by Kuwaiti experts, Al Anbaa reported. The aim of the center is to link academic and clinical work to provide patients with the best possible care and to place Kuwait on the medical world’s map as a leader in technical expertise and scientific studies. Dr. Sulaiman Al-Mazedi, head of the surgery department at the hospital and director of the Kuwaiti Board of Surgery program, has stressed that the center’s importance lies in providing research and innovation in a place near the patients to help doctors to better serve them. Al-Mazidi has also expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Health’s support of the hospital’s development work and overcoming obstacles to open the center.

In addition to 3D printing to create tools to help patients with fractures and wounds heal, Dr. Al-Youha, a hospital representative, highlighted that 3D printing has made it possible to print models of body organs and tumors in the liver or colon using CT scans. The use of such models enables accurate planning before performing surgeries to treat tumors. Dr. Muhammad Jamal, consultant of liver and pancreatic surgery, expressed his delight at the hospital’s developments, which have allowed it to become one of the most sought-after hospitals for patients. Jamal emphasized that the opening of the innovation and research center is evidence of modern medicine’s reliance on innovation and research, which Kuwaiti doctors, management, and individuals cooperated to achieve.
