Tide has apparently turned in Italy’s favor as it struggles along with other nations against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) reporting on Sunday 431 new deaths, lowest figure since March 19.

Speaking at a news conference, Head of Civil Protection Angelo Borelli said a number of those who tested positive of the virus remained lower than the alarming 2,000 level that had been recorded before, saying 1,984 cases were registered, increasing the whole number to 102,253.

Moreover, the number of people at intensive care units continued to drop, as compared to yesterday, decreasing by 38 cases, putting the whole figure at 3,343.

Likewise, the number of patients receiving treatment at hospitals also fell, by 297 to 27,847. However, the figure of those in self-quarantine increased to 71,063.

Up to 34,211 patients recovered, but the tally of the deaths increase to 19,899, thus the toll of all cases since the breakout in Italy climbed to 156,363, including deaths and recoveries.

Italy had been afflicted with the pandemic, particularly in the North, where youth account to the majority of local populations and where many of the juniors live and mingle with seniors, most susceptible to deadly contagion.
