Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Enzo Moavero Milanesi reaffirmed Sunday his country’s full support of Schengen visa exemption for Kuwaitis. This came during his reception of Kuwait’s deputy ambassador and Charge d’Affare Counselor Sami AlZamanan, who on his part told KUNA that they had discussed the Schengen visa exemption with along with Italy’s Representative to the European Union, Maurizio Massari, at the conclusion of an annual conference for Italian ambassadors.

The Minister, according to Ambassador Al-Zamanan, reaffirmed Italy’s keenness to develop and strengthen its relations with Kuwait; seen as an important partner on both regional and international levels, adding that Italy and Kuwait are a “bridge” of communication between Europe and the Arab world. Al-Zamanan pointed out that the Italian Minister said that his government, based on distinguished relations with Kuwait, supports Kuwait exemption request for its citizens from the Schengen visa.

Ambassador in Brussels Massari also assured Italy’s supporting stance to the Kuwaiti request at the EU and the Schengen group, Al-Zamanan said. Ambassador Massari was following closely the Kuwait exemption file, saying the request had been tabled to the new European Commission and is due to be submitted after completing the technical aspects, AlZamanan added.
