talian Military and Defence Attache Phil Salvatore Ferrara held a reception to mark the National Unity and Armed forces Day at a reception held at the Grand Hyatt hotel last week.
A large gathering of Italian military personnel stationed in Kuwait as well as diplomats and defence attaches from various countries stationed in Kuwait attended the reception. Speaking on the occasion the Italian military attaché, Colonel Ferrara stated that the 4th of November indicates the end of the First World War, as well as Italy’s independence that helped restore national unity, adding that the celebration of this historical achievement is a great honor.
He also highlighted Italian army’s participation and presence in 36 international missions in 20 countries, under the auspices of the United Nations and NATO, in accordance with bilateral agreements, in order to confront many threats to peace, stability and prosperity.
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Kuwait’s outstanding support to the Italian Armed Forces, especially by noting the role of the Italian army serving at Ali Al Salem Air Base as well as at Camp Arifjan.
Delivering his speech on behalf of the Chief of the Army, the Director of Moral Guidance and Public Relations, Rear Admiral Muhammad Al-Awadi affirmed that Kuwait and Italy share bilateral relations that span over 6 decades, due to their identical visions of spreading and maintaining peace in the world.
He added that the two nations were prominent members of the international coalition during the liberation of Kuwait. He expressed his appreciation towards Italy for their supportive stance towards Kuwait when it was in the face of blatant aggression.
