Finance Minister Abdulwahab Al-Rasheed revealed that the value of debts owed to government agencies was 2.18 billion dinars, 65% of those debts are concentrated in 4 government agencies.

In response to MP Mohalhal Al-Mudhaf’s question, a local Arabic daily quoting Minister Al-Rasheed, stated that approximately 1.4 billion dinars of these debts are concentrated in the following areas:

• 896 million dinars owed to the Ministry of Oil for future oil sales contracts

• 306 million dinars owed to the Ministry of Electricity and Water, representing the largest proportion of it for the consumption of electricity and water by government agencies, companies and individuals

• 101 million dinars owed to the Ministry of Communications, the largest percentage of which is for fees and subscriptions

• 104 million dinars owed to the Ministry of Interior, the largest percentage of which is for traffic fines and various other fees
