The latest research project of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research has made a quantum leap in the field of waste management and environmental pollution, by relying on its results on the production of renewable fuels using worn out rubber tires, with the aim of making optimal use in the near future.

The head of the project and scientific researcher at KISR, Dr. Sultan Majid Al-Salem, that the idea of the project is to exploit the trunk of rubber tires in Kuwait through the application of the “thermal chemical decomposition of tires” technology to produce derivatives comparable to those resulting from the petroleum industries.

Al-Salem added, “The scientific tasks project was funded by the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement Sciences and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, by launching laboratory work with the thermal reactor that obtained a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office, by studying a number of types of worn and new tires.
