Eng Mishaal Al-Enezi, the project engineer of the new Maternity Hospital project said the initial hand over of the hospital will be on the first of March 2023in line with the contractual terms and conditions.

A local Arabic daily quoting the Eng Al-Enezi added in this regard the procedures for supplying the electrical current to the project is an ongoing proces accelerating and is expected to be completed next November.

Al-Enezi said the project work is progressing according to the timetable, and the rate of completion is 77 percent. He indicated the progress of the project’s work was negatively affected because if the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic due to reduced working hours, the total, partial and regional ban and the significant shortage of skilled technical workers, because a majority of them were stuck abroad, in addition to the slow and irregular air and sea freight business, which affected the import of materials and equipment.

He pointed out that the total contractual cost of the project is 220.689 million dinars, while the project budget is 224.955 million dinars, indicating that the materials used in health care projects are chosen very carefully in accordance with the technical specifications of the contract and the latest standards of specialized international codes, which are initially anti-bacterial and take into account the comfort of patients.

All the equipments used are approved in coordination with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health of the highest international standards of quality, sustainability and rationalization of energy consumption.

He added the project is considered environmentally friendly and explained that the final delivery of the project will be after the completion of the years of operational maintenance, which may extend for an additional 3 optional years to become 5 years after the initial handover, stressing that the new maternity hospital project is one of the important development projects in the axis of raising the efficiency of health care infrastructure, and the first of its kind in the region in terms of specialization in the field of diagnosing and treating obstetrics and gynecology.

Al-Enezi said it is designed according to the latest international standards and is equipped with the latest medical devices, equipment and medical and non-medical furniture in this field. It is considered a qualitative leap in the health services provided in the field of maternity and premature babies.

He pointed out that there is continuous coordination with the Ministry of Health from the beginning of the project through all stages of design through workshops and meetings with directors of departments and heads of departments in the hospital, whose comments and decisions were carefully taken into consideration and the approval of the various medical departments in the area of all medical devices and equipment.

He explained that the project was designed with the specifications of green buildings that are environmentally friendly and energy-saving.

Al-Enezi explained that the works that have been completed in the project include concrete works for the entire project, in addition to the completion of most of the facade works for buildings and bridges, and the installation of elevators, electrical escalators for bridges.

Finishing work is underway for all buildings, as most of the gypsum partitions and false ceilings work have been completed, floors, doors, sanitary parts, paints, and all electrical and mechanical services (central, sanitary, and fire air conditioning) have been completed.
