The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Kuwait Elkhan Kahraman praised the tremendous efforts exerted by Kuwait to prevent the coronavirus from spreading, reported Al Rai daily.

In response to a previous report about the presence of 12 infected persons who came from the Republic of Azerbaijan in the past week, Kahraman explained that there was only one Egyptian national who came from the Republic of Azerbaijan through the United Arab Emirates by Emirates Airlines (transit) to Kuwait. He discovered that he was infected with the virus, and because of this interaction, 11 other passengers were infected in Kuwait.

He stated that the embassy requested the concerned authorities to provide information of this traveler, and so far they have not received a response so that they could take the necessary measures in Azerbaijan to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The Ambassador indicated that the traveler did not enter the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, pointing out that he had come from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan “transit” and then traveled to the United Arab Emirates and from there to the State of Kuwait. He added, “We do not know where he was infected and whether it was in Iran or his transfer through Azerbaijan or the United Arab Emirates.”
