The Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Lina Marianna, said the Kuwaiti-Indonesian Joint Higher Committee will hold its second session in Jakarta in October 2024.

The Indonesian envoy told journalists on the sidelines of a luncheon held in honor of a number of representatives of local newspapers that she seeks to strengthen military and defense cooperation between the two countries during the coming period, especially after the recent arrival of the military attaché at Indonesian embassy in Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily.

She explained her country manufactures weapons and military equipment, and there is great potential for cooperation with Kuwait in this field in the coming period if the Kuwaiti side so desires. She indicated that she attaches great importance to expanding the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

She disclosed there are about 7,000 Indonesians living in Kuwait, all of whom are trained workers. She noted Indonesia and Kuwait have signed more than 8 agreements and memorandums of understanding that govern bilateral relations between the two countries and represent the legal framework for them.

This is in addition to the existence of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the health field, which has entered its final stage and is expected to be signed before the end of this year. On this note she said there are about 600 Indonesian nurses working in Kuwait.

She revealed Indonesia’s Minister of Manpower is expected to visit Kuwait from October 1 to 3.
