Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Lina Mariana has expressed her satisfaction about Kuwait signing the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) at the 43rd Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Jakarta.

The Indonesian envoy told reporters on the sidelines of the North Korean Independence Day celebration commended the signing by Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad, who presented the accession instrument, saying TAC aims to promote political and security stability in Southeast Asia by facilitating peaceful resolution to dispute among the 54 signatory nations.

Ambassador Mariana extended her congratulations on this significant agreement. She highlighted Kuwait as the final Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member state to sign the TAC, expressing her anticipation of increased cooperation between Kuwait and Asian countries in the near future.

She emphasized Asia’s substantial potential as a market for investment and trade, given its vast population of approximately 600 million people, foreseeing this as beneficial for Kuwait.

Mariana noted that this accession will provide opportunities for bolstered cooperation in economic and various other domains, benefiting both Kuwait and Asian nations. She also looked forward to the upcoming summit between GCC countries and Asian nations, scheduled for this year in Riyadh.

The ambassador further revealed plans for an Indonesian Trade and Tourism Forum and Exhibition, scheduled for November 14, with the support of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
