The embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India on Sunday,  15th August 2021. Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances on account of the  COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations were held in consonance with the COVID-19  health and safety guidelines.

The official program was held from 0800 hrs at the Embassy premises. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi followed by unfurling of the  National Tricolor flag and singing of the Indian National Anthem. In addition, homage was paid to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the India House followed by a tree plantation drive launched by the Ambassador involving the planting of ten mango trees.

On the occasion, Hon’ble President of India’s message to the nation was read out by the Ambassador who also addressed all the participants, including the ones who joined the event on the virtual platform. In his address, Ambassador thanked the leadership and Government of the friendly State of Kuwait for the continued support in further strengthening of India-Kuwait bilateral relations, for taking special care of the Indian Community in Kuwait especially during the pandemic period, and for the assistance and support in supplying the much needed medical oxygen to India.

Further, in his address to the Indian Community, Ambassador highlighted the efforts of the Embassy to work with the community in promoting India-Kuwait relations and addressing the issues of concern to the Community. He reiterated the invitation to the  Community in Kuwait to join hands with the Embassy to celebrate the two important milestones: the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait and the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence. He highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Embassy on various fronts, including facilitation of high-level political exchanges, trade, investment, culture and tourism promotional efforts,  expansion and deepening of institutional cooperation in different domains, and numerous measures to ensure the welfare of the Indian Community in Kuwait. The event was live-streamed on Mission’s social media handles.

In the run-up to the Independence Day Celebrations, the Embassy organized various competitions for school students and the general public, all of which witnessed tremendous participation from the Indian Community in Kuwait.
